Day trip to Delft
The Ultimate Day in Delft – My Experience from Casa Julia
Delft is one of those cities that instantly captivates you: charming, historic, and yet very laid-back. During my stay at Casa Julia, I discovered how easy it is to fill a full and varied day here, all within walking distance.
Restaurant
For lunch, I started at La Tasca. A stylish and intimate restaurant where you can enjoy refined Mediterranean dishes and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for starting your day calmly and tastefully in the heart of the city. In the evening, I dined at Lakila. A lively spot where shared dining takes center stage and you can sample dishes from Italy, Spain, and North Africa. Alternatively, Hanno is highly recommended. Modern, creative, and playfully designed, with a cosmopolitan menu that’s perfect for sharing. The open kitchen and relaxed atmosphere make for an evening that’s just a little bit different.

Culture
Afterward, I headed into the city and immediately felt that typical Delft atmosphere. On the lively Markt, with the impressive Nieuwe Kerk, it felt as though I were standing in the midst of history. I decided to climb the tower, and the view of the city and the canals made it completely worth the effort. Afterward, I walked over to Royal Delft, where you can really see the craftsmanship behind the famous Delft Blue.
Overnight Stay
And returning to Casa Julia really felt like coming home. The hotel is peaceful, stylish and welcoming all at once, with rooms that are comfortable without losing any of their charm. After a day in the city, it’s the sort of place where you can unwind straight away.
What makes it extra special is the garden behind the hotel. A small, green oasis where you can sit outside for a while, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s wonderfully quiet and relaxing there, especially during the quieter times of the day.
Exploring
In between, I mostly wandered around the city and explored the canals from the water during a boat tour of Delft. Along Oude Delft, you see the prettiest little streets, small boutiques, and hidden courtyards from a whole new perspective. It’s that variety that makes Delft so fun—you don’t really have to go anywhere, because whether you’re walking or on the water, you’ll stumble upon something beautiful.
Delft really surprised me. And honestly? From Casa Julia, everything is just close enough to explore the city at your own pace.
